Yes, I know—crafting and friendship aren’t exactly on-brand for the queen of emotional detachment. But even Wednesday couldn’t avoid connection forever. Her unlikely friendships—awkward, reluctant, and oddly touching—are proof that even the darkest hearts can surprise us.

Set out a mix of black, grey and white beads for the moody types, and some vibrant chaos for the Enid energy in the room. Whether they create something dark and dramatic or blindingly sparkly, it’s all about encouraging creativity... and mild human interaction

2. A Slightly Sinister Treasure Haunt
What’s a party without a little intrigue? For our younger guests, we’ve prepared a mysterious treasure hunt—because nothing brings children together like the promise of sugar and mild chaos. They’ll follow cryptic clues, solve simple puzzles, and work together to uncover the final prize.  The hunt ends with a “treasure” which could be a stash of treats or a party favor for your guests. It’s equal parts eerie and exciting

3. Paint It Black – Goth Art Station

Provide mini canvases, black paint, charcoal pencils, and dark-hued markers. Guests can draw spiderwebs, moody portraits, ravens, or their own gothic masterpieces. Enid fans can add glitter. Wednesday won’t stop them, but she’ll judge silently.

Make your cake a thing of nightmares (in the best way possible). Cookies & cream is a perfect (and delicious) way to keep the cake dark and moody without resorting to intense black icing. Add a chocolate ganache drip for a dramatic effect. If your baking skills are more “Pinterest attempt” than “nailed it,” no worries—I'm right there with you!  My timesaving, budget-friendly hack is to have my local grocery store make a simple iced white or chocolate base cake and then I add my creative spin.  Think spooky-chic finishing touches like crushed Oreos, black sprinkles, or a dramatic topper. It’s delightfully eerie with half the effort. I just used black candles and a plastic scorpion. RIP Nero! 😭🦂

2. "Poisonous" Punch: (dye free)
Create a dark, moody beverage using dark colored fruit juice, frozen fruit punch concentrate and a lemon lime soda for some fizzy fun. RECIPE

Speaking of beverages, we had a cooler of Liquid Death at our party—and no, it’s not a potion, just really cool canned water (with sparkling flavors, teas, and sodas too). The name got laughs, the cans looked hardcore, and the 8–11-year-olds felt like rockstars hydrating in style. Who knew water could be such a memorable party treat?

3. Sinister Snacks & Hauntingly Good Eats:

• Cauldron Cheese Dip
  Serve up your bubbling queso or spinach artichoke dip in a crockpot and boom—instant witchy vibes. Surround it with breadsticks, white tortilla chips or crackers.

• Black | White | Red Macabre Snack Platter

Dark purple grapes, witch fingers (seasonally available long black grapes), blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, white cheeses, white yogurt dipped pretzels, flavor blasted white cheddar goldfish, white cheddar cheez-its and perhaps some "Authentic pilgrim fudge."

• THING Popcorn Hands
  Fill clear plastic gloves with popcorn, place a candy (like a candy corn or gumdrop) in each fingertip for “nails,” and tie off with a ribbon. Use a sharpie to draw stitches for and instant spooky, Thing-inspired snack. OR have guest make one themselves for a party favor!

• Graveyard Pudding Cups: Layer chocolate pudding with crushed Oreo cookies to create the "dirt." Add a cookie tombstone on top and decorate. Top it with gummy worms or candy eyeballs for a perfect spooky touch! This makes a spooktastic fun activity or party favor - set up the ingredients and guest can make their own. Use small mason jars with screw lids for a take home treat!

You don’t need a Victorian wardrobe or a summoning circle to dress like the host of a Wednesday Addams-themed party. Just raid your closet for anything black—leggings, a turtleneck, that one “I’m not going out” sweater—and you’re halfway there. Add a dark lipstick, a dramatic collar, or just a deeply unimpressed expression, and boom: spooky chic. The vibe is “I baked cupcakes but also may have cursed them.” It’s moody fun, not full funeral—unless you want it to be, of course.

💀 Favors to Die For

Party favors often get a bad rap—cheap trinkets, tossed aside and forgotten. But honestly? They’re one of my favorite parts to plan. When done right, favors can be thoughtful, unique, and a memorable extension of your party theme. For a Wednesday Addams–inspired gathering, think beyond plastic spider rings. Imagine black candied apples, mini coffin treat boxes, tiny spell kits, or gothic stationery your guests will actually want to keep. These aren't just favors—they're wicked little thank-you gifts.

For my daughter's party, each guest got a pocket-sized notebook and an invisible ink pen—perfect for decoding clues in style. To balance the spooky with something sweet, I included small pollinator planter pots—a subtle nod to the Nevermore Hummers, Wednesday’s beekeeping club. They're usually available at Target in the spring and summer. 

I couldn’t find a comparable planter pot on Amazon for my need-next-day girlies, but I did stumble across something just as cute: plantable seed paper with a little bee on it. To go with it, I created a printable card you can give your guests—consider it a FreeBEE (wink🐝). It's a tiny gift that might sprout something... if not chaos.
